Travelling with chronic illness or disability
For travellers with a chronic health problem or disability we can say that they can do a lot more than they dare to. There are many travel agents and companies who have specialised on disabled travellers and there is nothing that you cant find if you are determined. Wheelchair patients can do superb Safaris fro affordable prices. There are even rangers and travelguides in wheelchairs. The Para-Olympics are not representative for the majority of chronic ill patients, but they show what disabled patients are capable of doing.
When travelling much is depending on support and help from other people and you would be surprised how much easier it is for a disabled person to travel through India than through USA or Europe. Poverty does not prevent people from helping others it seems just the opposite.
Certainly there is more and better travel preparation and planning required from a disabled patient. Also the area of destination should be more carefully selected. Dependence on regular medication and certain diet are sometimes limiting.
However, we will help you to find out where you can go and travel safely irrespective of your illness.
