Standby treatment with self tests from medical kit for travellers
One important aspect of travel medicine is to offer the patient guidance to self-help while he/she is travelling to areas where there is no doctor. This has led to the development of a malaria selftest kit but now has been extended to other medical conditions.
The latest generation of rapid tests are easy to perform just like the well known pregnancy tests and treatment for various conditions can be started immediately if the medical kit is adequately equippped wih tests and respective drugs including antibiotics and antimalaria medication. This procedure has numerous advantages e.g. therapy is not delayed and risk of secondary contamination in tropical hospitals is excluded.
The combination of a good medical kit and a 24 hour medical helpline can safe your life.
